The SpaceX and Tesla CEO is now the father of 14 children with four different women
Elon Musk has never held back when it comes to sharing his thoughts on having more children — and has reportedly spoken privately about his desire to build a “legion-sized” family before the end of the world.
According to a new Wall Street Journal report, Musk — who now has 14 children, shared with four women — sees his kids as a “legion,” a term used to describe a military unit in ancient Rome made up of thousands of soldiers.
“To reach legion status before the apocalypse, we’ll need to use surrogates,” Musk, 53, reportedly texted Ashley St. Clair while she was pregnant with their child, born earlier this year. (In a further nod to Roman mythology, the paper notes their son is named Romulus, after the founder of Rome who, according to legend, killed his twin brother Remus.)
The Journal also claims Musk has used X, the social media platform he acquired in 2022, to connect with women potentially willing to have his children.
In response to the article, published Tuesday, April 15, Musk simply posted:
“TMZ >> WSJ”
A representative for Musk has not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Musk’s Mission to Solve Underpopulation
Musk has repeatedly voiced concern over what he calls a looming “underpopulation crisis.”
“I cannot emphasize this enough — there aren’t enough people,” Musk said during a 2021 Wall Street Journal event. “One of the biggest threats to civilization is the declining birth rate… If people don’t start having more kids, society is going to collapse.”
After fathering twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, Musk seemingly acknowledged the news on social media, writing:
“Doing my part to solve the underpopulation crisis.”
In February 2025, St. Clair posted on X that she and Musk had welcomed a child together in September 2024.
According to the WSJ, results from a court-ordered paternity test in their custody case showed Musk’s “probability of paternity” was 99.9999%. A spokesperson for St. Clair confirmed this to PEOPLE, adding the results left little doubt.
Inside Musk’s Expanding Family
Musk became a father for the first time in 2002, when he and then-wife Justine Wilson welcomed their son Nevada Alexander, who tragically died at just 10 weeks old. The couple went on to have five more children: twins Vivian and Griffin, now 20, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, all 19.
He also shares three children with musician Grimes: sons X Æ A-12 and Techno Mechanicus, and daughter Exa Dark Sideræl.
Additionally, Musk and Shivon Zilis have twins, Strider and Azure, who are believed to have been born in 2021.
A Billionaire’s Legacy—or an Endgame Strategy?
Whether Musk’s growing family is part of a deeply personal legacy or a broader plan to combat population decline, the news has ignited fresh debate about the intersection of wealth, influence, and human reproduction.
Is Musk preparing for a societal collapse—or just continuing to live according to his own rules?
As speculation continues to swirl, one thing is clear: Elon Musk’s vision for the future of civilization includes a lot of diapers.
